Quality
The pipe we use is a multi-layer pipe of either Polyethylene or PEX Polyethylene incorporating a layer of Aluminium. This kind of pipe has the advantage of holding its position and shape once it is bent. This quality makes it ideal for use in suspended floor systems, laid on diffusion plates, on insulation or using the clip-rail system. The tendency of standard PB (Polybutylene) Pipe or standard PEX Polyethylene pipe is to spring back into its coiled shape. The multi-layer pipe is marginally more expensive but with the ease of installation the difference in installed cost is minimal.
We use a high-flow-rate 3-port mixer valve to control the water temperature, typically 50oC. Our pump is attached to the manifold which allows the use of a remote sensor to give superior temperature control and a quicker heat-up time. Individual room control is achieved by room thermostats including a low-voltage remote-sensor type for the bathrooms. The room thermostats are connected to the manifold actuators via the wiring centre with overall time and temperature control provided by the clock stat.
